So why is it that transparency is lost when you convert PNG files to JPG?

Notice that clear areas are different after you png to jpg convert the image? It's because of the fact that JPG does not support transparency. Before you convert png to jpg, you can select the background color using the converter, which means you can control the transparency of the parts you are converting. This can be helpful to create logos, graphics, or screenshots for sites that need JPG images. When converting PNG to JPG, the careful selection of background might enhance the resulting image.
