Seeing vertical lines computer monitor problems doesn't always mean the monitor is permanently damaged. Display artifacts can be caused by loose cables, outdated graphics drivers or graphics card problems in many cases. Try a different HDMI cable or DisplayPort cable, and connect the monitor to another computer. If they don't show up, the original PC probably is to blame. If they continue to be seen on all devices, however, then the monitor panel might need repair or replacement.
